Introducing Delicious Library

Mmm mmm good… Recently (was it today?), Delicious Monster released Delicious Library, a new way of organizing your possessions. It includes music, movies, books, and games. What sets Delicious Library out from the rest of “library” like products, is it’s ease of use and overall prettiness.

It’s everything you’d expect from a Mac OS X application. Library incorporates the bookshelf idea of organizing. Enter ISBN numbers (or scan them using an iSight or a bar code reader) and the products show up on your virtual bookshelf, ready for you to sort. It even allows you to “check out” any of your entered products to friends, family, or even yourself.

Library is meant for the casual user, the power user, and the obsessive compulsive collecter. The bar code scanner they sell (for $175, no less) allows you to scan up to 500 products while away from your computer, then uploads the numbers using Bluetooth wireless networking. No cables required. Now that’s simplicity.

So where does Library get all its’ information from? Amazon.com. That’s right, it pulls information straight from Amazon to give you categories, cover art, and rating. You’re even offered suggestions for similar items and a way to buy them right from Delicious. Trust me, it’s beautiful. And for only $39.95 (plus tax), it’s yours.

I’m actually considering purchasing it. Their site even suggests that they’ll offer an educational discount. I sure hope they do. If you have a Mac, go download it. They even allow to to play with a pre-filled library. The demo version, however, only allows 25 items to be entered.
