The Line that Wasn’tAs I write this, it’s 4:45pm PDT and there are about 10 people sitting outside the University Village Apple Store in Seattle, WA, waiting for the Tiger release. That’s just… sad. I was two hours early to the release of Panther back in 2003. Two hours and the line stretched around city block corners. I stood in line, after the doors opened for at a minimum an hour. It as mad crazy. After finally entering the Michigan Ave store in Chicago, IL, I was greeted with… nothing. No door prizes. I was far too late. Today, I’m the third person in line. The few people around me say that the line here, back in October of 2003, was also around two corners. Where is everyone? Certainly a little drizzle wouldn’t stop the Mac die hard from waiting in line. Would it? Whatever the case, it’s benefitted me and I won’t complain further. The line is slowly starting to fill, but I doubt it’ll be even near what it was in the past. (P.S. Besides the scratch tickets, I hear the door prizes this year are t-shirts. One can only hope.) |
